We're watching execution become cheap. Not free. You still need an idea. But the raw cost of turning an idea into working software is dropping fast. A prototype that took a week takes a day. A day's work takes an hour.
The interesting consequence isn't speed. It's that the bottleneck shifts. When execution was expensive, we held on to ideas too long because we'd already invested in building them. Sunk cost drove roadmaps. "We've spent three months on this feature" was a reason to ship it, even when the feature was wrong.
If execution is cheap, you can afford to throw things away. Build it, test it against reality, learn, discard, rebuild. The cost of being wrong drops. But only if you're willing to let go. And most teams aren't. They've spent a decade optimizing for execution efficiency. The new game is idea throughput. That's a different muscle entirely.
